Rags was bought as a just 5 year old from a dealer in Berkshire who had imported and broken him. He is a lovely stamp of an event horse and was approx 16hh when we bought him. Unfortunately with a bit of decent grub and work he grew and grew and was about 16.3hh when I sold him.

I had fun producing him but did struggle due to his ever increasing size (I am not blessed with the longest legs in the world!) In particular for me his show jumping was difficult to get together although he was very scopey.

We had some good placings as 5 and 6 year old in Intro and PN but all the time it was dawning on me he was a long term proposition. Unfortunately the end of our relationship came a tad sooner than I anticipated. We were contesting a PN Regional Final at Stockland Lovell before doing some Novices. Show jumping was in the arena and I was hopeful of a clear as we made massive improvements. He certainly gave the first some air unbalancing me as we landed a bird flew out causing him to jinx. I came out the side door landing on my feet, the cracks I heard were not good. That was the last time I rode Rags as a dislocated ankle and 3 broken bones prevented me riding for a while!

Lucy Wiegersma kindly took him on and he was then sold to Piggy French who was very successful with him at Novice level. He ince been sold again and now is succesfully competing in Switzerland.
